Hey Emma!
Life is getting pretty crazy around here. It’s inching towards finals which means I am up to my eyes in grading, student issues and generally trying to prevent undergraduate meltdowns. Aprils are always crazy but this one has been crazier than most. Noah just received his mission call which means he will be serving a full time two year mission in Jacksonville, Florida beginning this summer, I’ve almost completed my coursework for my Masters Degree and my teaching schedule has been crazy busy. Add the typical family, friend, service and relational needs to that list and I haven’t had time to cook anything even worth sharing for weeks.
That doesn’t mean I haven’t been obsessing over incredible food. When I’m stressed I actually obsess more over delicious menus and there are so many websites around the internet worth obsessing. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite food haunts with you! Some are websites, others are YouTube food channels and a few have both. But each deserves a nod for keeping me drooling over their incredible content and drop dead recipes for years.
Cake by Courtney is a blog that I stumbled upon when planning Emma’s wedding. I was looking for bakers in my area and discovered Courtney’s Instagram page loaded with incredible images of multilayered cakes filled with incredible fillings (she seriously has an everything but the kitchen sink cake) then finished to perfection. Check out her Peach Crisp Cake, loaded with fresh peaches and a crispy cobbler like crumble.
If you are not following Bake From Scratch on social media or reading their blog on the daily then you are missing out on some of the most gorgeous food photos backed by solid recipes that will make you weak in the knees. They also publish a magazine and produce cookbooks that are down right gorgeous! though it’s a little on the pricy side, the content is incredible. I will thumb through the pages reading each recipe dozens of times. The best part is, the authors and editors produce some of the most solid baking instruction in the industry while sticking to the everything from scratch format. Even if you don’t bake the recipes, you’ll find reading the recipes alone makes you feel like you’re part of something important.
